There is a conservation easement on the property, held by The Nature Conservancy and New York State Department of Conservation. The goal of the easement is to protect Cedarlands Scout Reservations significant natural resources and biodiversity for generations to come, to limit future development opportunities to the Base Camp area of the property and to allow for limited public recreational access to portions of the campus.
